I’ll set the scene a bit for you, real short and to the point.  Morgan Earp and Doc Holliday confronted Ike Clanton that night while he ate at the Occidental Lunch Room.  We know the “Wild West” by now, so there are different versions of this story.  However, it comes down to this: Holliday confronts Ike regarding “threats” or “talk” he has made about the Earps.  Clanton leaves the Occidental angry.  In the different versions you will have Holliday telling Ike to “get heeled” and come back.  (That means get armed with a gun.) Or you will hear that Ike left first while the Earps looked on, hands on guns, and did nothing.  All except Virgil, who threatened to arrest both Holliday and Ike.  Bottom line: Ike left angry.

By Wyatt’s later accounts, he met up with Ike later in the evening and was threatened.  “I’ll be ready for you in the morning.” Wyatt told Ike he wouldn’t fight because there “was no money in it.” Wyatt went home to bed.  Ike went to play an all night poker game at the Occidental.  As we will read, later, this event was the lighting of the fuse that would blow up the dynamite at the OK Corral.
